I traveled to Puerto Rico this summer with the University of Florida's shelter medicine program. The trip changed me. After coming home, the Smush Foundation was born and we raised nearly 4000 dollars for Maddie’s Shelter Medicine at the University of Florida, who is a part of the Humane Society’s Sister Shelter Program and helps animal shelters across the island of Puerto Rico, including Santuario de Animales San Francisco de Asís.

The Spayathon for Puerto Rico is a high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter initiative spearheaded by The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). The initiative was launched in the spring of 2018 with the goal of altering over 30,000 dogs and cats in underserved communities across the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. It has since surpassed this goal and has been renewed for 2 years.

The Cats Matter Too Program offers free monthly spay/neuter clinics and educational workshops in Da Nang and Hoi An, Vietnam to promote feline welfare, and tackle the cruel cat meat trade.
